Majstorović families are frequently Croats and they are mostly from middle Bosnia , less frequently Serbs and Bosniaks (from Bosnian Posavina ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Middle Bosnia (Kakanj area) and in Bosanian Posavina (Derventa area). In Bjelavići in Middle Bosnia every fourth inhabitant had the family name Majstorović.
Prevalence
About 2000 people with faimily name Majstorović live in Croatia today, in 830 households. There were 1400 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 40 percent. They are located in all Croatian counties, in 78 cities and 211 other places, mostly in Zagreb (395), Rijeka (80), Vinkovci (70), Cerna in Zupanja area (60), and in Sesvete (55).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over thirty times, the first time 1750 in source 18th Century Census.
