Majsec families are Croats and they are mostly from Zabok area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and in Zabok area. In Štrucljevo in Zabok area every third inhabitant had the family name Majsec.
Prevalence
About 280 people with faimily name Majsec live in Croatia today, in 110 households. There were 300 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 10 percent. They are located in four Croatian counties, in 12 cities and 23 other places, mostly in Strucljevo in Zabok area (90), Zagreb (85), Sveti Kriz Zacretje in Zabok area (10), Krapina (10), and in Gornja Podgora (<10).
Outside Croatia
Family name Majsec is present in three countries on two continents. "Meisetz " is used by few people in the United States.
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
