About 30 people with faimily name Maj live in Croatia today, in 10 households. There were 30 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number remains constant. They are located and 7 other Croatian places, mostly in Rajic (<10), Gornje Podotocje (<10), Vukovar (<10), Velika Mlaka (<5), and in Koritna in Vrbovec area (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
