In Croatia, Magoš families are mainly Hungarians (from Osijek area ), less frequently Croats (from Vrbovec ), and very rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Osijek area and in Zagreb.
Prevalence
About 20 people with faimily name Magoš live in Croatia today, in 11 households. There were 60 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased significantly. They are only located in threee Croatian cities and four other places, mostly in Lug in Osijek area (10), Vrbovec (<5), Bosiljevo (<5), Zagreb (<5), and in Klostar Ivanic in Ivanic-Grad area (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1679 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
