Lupić families are Croats and they are mostly from the Island of Rab. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born on the Island of Rab and in Rijeka. In Ljeskovica in Western Bosnia every fourth inhabitant had the family name Lupić.
Prevalence
About 190 people with faimily name Lupić live in Croatia today, in 70 households. There were 110 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 70 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 13 cities and 18 other places, mostly in Kampor on the Island of Rab (75), Zagreb (25), Veli Losinj on the Island of Losinj (15), Sesvete (<10), and in Mali Losinj on the Island of Losinj (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1729 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
