Lopar families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Banja Luka area (Bosnia), rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Banja Luka Region, Bosnia (Banja Luka area) and in Osijek. In Barlovci in Banja Luka Region (Bosnia) every sixth inhabitant had the family name Lopar.
Prevalence
About 150 people with faimily name Lopar live in Croatia today, in 60 households. There were 10 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number multiplied. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 17 cities and 21 other places, mostly in Zagreb (30), Petrinja (10), Glina (10), Rijeka (<10), and in Pakrac (<10).
