Levak families are Croats and they are mostly from Pazin area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Pula. In Jakšinec in Donja Stubica area every tenth inhabitant had the family name Levak.
Prevalence
About 1000 people with faimily name Levak live in Croatia today, in 380 households. There were 1000 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number remains constant. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 34 cities and 104 other places, mostly in Zagreb (175), Pula (65), Skropeti in Pazin area (50), Cakovec (40), and in Blagusa (35).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1683 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
