Letica families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Tuzla Region (Bosnia), rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Western Bosnia (Tomislavgrad area) and in Middle Bosnia (Maglaj area). In Kovači in Tuzla Region (Bosnia) every seventh inhabitant had the family name Letica.
Prevalence
About 490 people with faimily name Letica live in Croatia today, in 220 households. There were 280 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 70 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 34 cities and 38 other places, mostly in Zagreb (155), Split (70), Podgora in Makarska area (35), Makarska (15), and in Cepin in Osijek area (15).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
