In Croatia, Lesica families are almost entirely Croats (from the Island of Krk ), barely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Rijeka and on the Island of Krk. In Sveti Vid-Miholjice on the Island of Krk every fifth inhabitant had the family name Lesica.
Prevalence
About 60 people with faimily name Lesica live in Croatia today, in 30 households. There were 100 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 40 percent. They are located in four Croatian counties and 5 other places, mostly in Rijeka (30), in Njivice (<10) and Malinska (<10) on the Island of Krk, Zagreb (<5), and in Pula (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1923 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
