Leljak families are Croats and they are mostly from Krapina area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Krapina and Zagreb. In places Brezovica Petrovska and Ravninsko in Krapina area every fourth inhabitant had the family name Leljak.
Prevalence
About 680 people with faimily name Leljak live in Croatia today, in 240 households. There were 460 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 50 percent. They are located in 10 Croatian counties, in 21 cities and 73 other places, mostly in Ravninsko in Krapina area (85), Zagreb (75), in Brezovica Petrovska (50) and Podgaj Petrovski (50) in Krapina area, and in Krapina (40).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
