In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Slovenia and in Otocac area. In Vranovača in Otocac area every ninth inhabitant had the family name Leka.
Prevalence
About 40 people with faimily name Leka live in Croatia today, in 20 households. There were 70 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 40 percent. They are located in 7 Croatian counties, in 11 cities and 7 other places, mostly in Licko Petrovo Selo in Otocac area (<10), Umag (<10), Vranovaca in Otocac area (<10), Zagreb (<10), and in Karlovac (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
