In Croatia, Lazo families are Croats (from the Island of Mljet ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Dubrovnik and on the Island of Mljet.
Prevalence
About 50 people with faimily name Lazo live in Croatia today, in 20 households. There were 40 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 30 percent. They are located in threee Croatian counties, threee cities and threee other places, mostly in Dubrovnik (25), Babino Polje on the Island of Mljet (15), Zagreb (<10), Rijeka (<5), and in Mokosica (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
