Surname Latin in modern Croatia

Latin families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Prelog area , rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Cakovec. In Bočaki in Zlatar area every fifth inhabitant had the family name Latin.

Prevalence

About 520 people with faimily name Latin live in Croatia today, in 210 households. There were 610 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 10 percent.
They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 32 cities and 65 other places, mostly in Zagreb (85), Kotoriba in Prelog area (60), Vodice (45), Bocaki in Zlatar area (15), and in Karlovac (15).

Outside Croatia

At least 14 families with this surname emigrated from Croatia to: Canada (5), Australia (4), Germany (3), and to the United States (2).
