Lajić families can be both Croats (the family name originates from Pula ) and Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Bosanian Posavina (Bosanska Gradiska area) and in Zagreb. In Brestovac in Cazins Region (Bosnia) every fourth inhabitant had the family name Lajić.
Prevalence
About 90 people with faimily name Lajić live in Croatia today, in 40 households. There were 40 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number doubled. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 12 cities and 10 other places, mostly in Neteka in Knin area (20), Zagreb (15), Pula (15), Rijeka (<10), and in Karlovac (<10).

Family name Lajić (including: Lajic , Layic and Layich ) is present in 16 countries worldwide.
