Kučar families are Croats and they are mostly from Varazdin. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Varazdin and Zagreb. In Jalkovec in Varazdin every twentieth inhabitant had the family name Kučar.
Prevalence
About 120 people with faimily name Kučar live in Croatia today, in 50 households. There were 110 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 10 percent. They are located in 9 Croatian counties, in 12 cities and 10 other places, mostly in Varazdin (35), Jalkovec (15), Lepoglava (10), Zagreb (<10), and in Rijeka (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over thirty times, the first time 1701 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
