Kurtin families are Croats and they are mostly from the Island of Ugljan. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zadar and on the Island of Ugljan.
Prevalence
About 150 people with faimily name Kurtin live in Croatia today, in 70 households. There were 160 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 10 percent. They are only located in four Croatian cities and threee other places, mostly in Kali on the Island of Ugljan (95), Zadar (45), Rijeka (<10), Zagreb (<10), and in Rovinj (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1825 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
