In Croatia, Kurti families are mainly Croats (from Opatija ), less frequently Albanians (from Djurdjevac area ), and very rarely Bosniaks (from Ulcinj, Montenegro ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Rijeka and Zagreb.
Prevalence
About 30 people with faimily name Kurti live in Croatia today, in 14 households. They are only located in four Croatian cities and another small place , mostly in Opatija (15), Zagreb (<10), Pula (<10), Cakovec (<10), and in Pitomaca in Djurdjevac area (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
