Kuljiš families are Croats and they are mostly from the Island of Vis. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Split and on the Island of Vis.
Prevalence
About 160 people with faimily name Kuljiš live in Croatia today, in 80 households. There were 220 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 30 percent. They are located in 6 Croatian counties, in 10 cities and threee other places, mostly in Split (45), Zagreb (40), in Komiza (35) and Vis (20) on the Island of Vis, and in Rijeka (10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1928 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
