Kršul families are Croats and they are mostly from Opatija area. According to some sources rumunjskog porijekla. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Rijeka and Zagreb. In Ružići in Opatija area every fourth inhabitant had the family name Kršul.
Prevalence
About 190 people with faimily name Kršul live in Croatia today, in 90 households. There were 280 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 30 percent. They are located in 9 Croatian counties, in 12 cities and 19 other places, mostly in Rijeka (35), Selce (35), Bribir in Novi Vinodolski area (35), Zagreb (25), and in Veli Brgud in Opatija area (10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1678 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
