Krsnik families are Croats and they are mostly from Krapina area. According to some sources they are from Krusljevo Selo. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Krapina. In Gornja Plemenšćina in Pregrada every sixth inhabitant had the family name Krsnik.
Prevalence
About 890 people with faimily name Krsnik live in Croatia today, in 380 households. There were 970 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 10 percent. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 43 cities and 87 other places, mostly in Zagreb (255), Hlevnica in Krapina area (50), Pregrada (35), Lepajci (30), and in Gornja Plemenscina (25).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
