In Croatia, Krpo families are generally Croats (from Trogir ), rarely Bosniaks (from Middle Bosnia ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Herzegovina (Mostar area) and in Trogir. In Buzić Mahala in Middle Bosnia every third inhabitant had the family name Krpo.
Prevalence
About 20 people with faimily name Krpo live in Croatia today, in 10 households. They are located in five Croatian cities only: in Plano (<10), Vrgorac (<10), Makarska (<5), Knin (<5), and in Zagreb (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1933 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
