In Croatia, Krljan families are Croats (from Sveti Ivan Zelina ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Sveti Ivan Zelina. In Gradec Pokupski in Jastrebarsko area every eighth inhabitant had the family name Krljan.
Prevalence
About 60 people with faimily name Krljan live in Croatia today, in 30 households. There were 120 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number halved. They are located in four Croatian counties and four other places, mostly in Gornje Psarjevo (20), Zagreb (10), Gradec Pokupski in Jastrebarsko area (10), Jastrebarsko (<10), and in Rakovec in Sveti Ivan Zelina area (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1924 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
