Kozina families are Croats and they are mostly from Bosnian Posavina. According to some sources they are from Herzegovina (Ljubuski). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Bosanian Posavina (Derventa area) and in Middle Bosnia (Travnik area). In Bijača in Herzegovina every fourth inhabitant had the family name Kozina.
Prevalence
About 1300 people with faimily name Kozina live in Croatia today, in 510 households. There were 540 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number more than doubled. They are located in all Croatian counties, in 59 cities and 99 other places, mostly in Zagreb (310), Metkovic (145), Sesvete (95), Slavonski Brod (60), and in Split (55).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
