Kozarić families are Croats and they are mostly from north Herzegovina. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in North Herzegovina (Konjic area) and in Zagreb. In Bulatovići in North Herzegovina every fourth inhabitant had the family name Kozarić.
Prevalence
About 320 people with faimily name Kozarić live in Croatia today, in 140 households. There were 410 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 20 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 26 cities and 39 other places, mostly in Zagreb (80), Greda Sunjska in Hrvatska Kostajnica area (20), Sisak (20), Pozega (15), and in Lekenik in Petrinja area (15).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
