In Croatia, Kosjer families are generally Serbs, very rarely Croats (from Ogulin ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Duga Resa area and in Karlovac. In Kosijersko Selo in Duga Resa area every fifth inhabitant had the family name Kosjer.
Prevalence
About 30 people with faimily name Kosjer live in Croatia today, in 16 households. There were 240 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased significantly. They are located in four Croatian counties, in 6 cities and 7 other places, mostly in Koransko Selo (<10) and Kosijersko Selo (<10) in Duga Resa area, Rijeka (<5), Karlovac (<5), and in Skenderovci in Pozega area (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
