Kopić families are usually Croats and they are mostly from Bosnian Posavina. According to other sources from west Herzegovina, and very rarely Bosniaks (Tuzla Region, Bosnia). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Bosanian Posavina (Orasje area) and in Bosanian Posavina (Brcko area). In places Oštra Luka and Gorice in Bosanian Posavina every sixth inhabitant had the family name Kopić.
Prevalence
About 940 people with faimily name Kopić live in Croatia today, in 380 households. There were 470 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number doubled. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 51 cities and 75 other places, mostly in Zupanja (145), Zagreb (135), Stitar (80), Babina Greda in Zupanja area (70), and in Osijek (60).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over thirty times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
