Komšić families are Croats and they are mostly from middle Bosnia. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Middle Bosnia (Kiseljak area) and in Middle Bosnia (Busovaca area). In Parževići in Romania (Bosnia) every fifth inhabitant had the family name Komšić.
Prevalence
About 280 people with faimily name Komšić live in Croatia today, in 120 households. There were 30 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number multiplied. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 33 cities and 39 other places, mostly in Zagreb (40), Vukovar (35), Komletinci in Vinkovci area (20), Knin (20), and in Pula (15).
Outside Croatia
Family name Komšić is present in 10 countries on three continents. The family name "Komsic " is used by some 60 people in the United States , about 50 in Canada , and small number of people in the Netherlands.
