Komić families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Omis , often Bosniaks (from Cazinska Krajina Region, Bosnia). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Cazins Region, Bosnia (Bosanska Krupa area) and in Split.
Prevalence
About 120 people with faimily name Komić live in Croatia today, in 40 households. There were 40 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number tripled. They are located in 10 Croatian counties, in 16 cities and 5 other places, mostly in Dubrava (20), Zagreb (20), Split (20), Sisak (20), and in Solin (20).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1936 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
