Komarica families are Croats and they are mostly from Podrinje (Bosnia). According to some sources they are from Stranjana. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Podrinje, Bosnia (Gorazde area) and in Banja Luka Region, Bosnia (Banja Luka area). In Novakovići in Podrinje (Bosnia) every fourth inhabitant had the family name Komarica.
Prevalence
About 80 people with faimily name Komarica live in Croatia today, in 40 households. There were 10 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number multiplied. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 13 cities and 7 other places, mostly in Zagreb (15), Knin (15), Bebrina in Pleternica area (<10), Petrinja (<10), and in Kinjacka in Hrvatska Kostajnica area (<10).

Family name Komarica is present in 15 countries worldwide. The family name "Komarica " is used by some 90 people in Libya , small number in the United States , and small number of people in Germany.
