Kokir families are mainly Serbs and they are mostly from Duga Resa area , whereas often Croats (from Bjelovar ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Duga Resa area and in Duga Resa area. In Burić Selo in Duga Resa area every fourth inhabitant had the family name Kokir.

About 70 people with faimily name Kokir live in Croatia today, in 40 households. There were 180 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased significantly.
