Kokir families are mainly Serbs and they are mostly from Duga Resa area , whereas often Croats (from Bjelovar ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Duga Resa area and in Duga Resa area. In Burić Selo in Duga Resa area every fourth inhabitant had the family name Kokir.
Prevalence
About 70 people with faimily name Kokir live in Croatia today, in 40 households. There were 180 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased significantly. They are located in 10 Croatian counties, in 8 cities and 10 other places, mostly in Mirkovci (10), Karlovac (10), Buric Selo in Duga Resa area (<10), Varazdin (<10), and in Zagreb (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
