In Croatia, Kocet families are almost entirely Croats (from Beli Manastir area ), barely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and in Kutina area.
Prevalence
About 50 people with faimily name Kocet live in Croatia today, in 30 households. There were 40 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 30 percent. They are located in 8 Croatian counties, in 7 cities and 9 other places, mostly in Popovaca in Kutina area (10), Zagreb (<10), Sisak (<10), Sirine in Beli Manastir area (<10), and in Dugo Selo (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1926 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
