Klobučar families are Croats and they are mostly from Gospic area. According to some sources they are from Brod na Kupi. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Gospic area and in Zagreb. In places Donji Kosinj and Gornji Kosinj in Gospic area every tenth inhabitant had the family name Klobučar.
Prevalence
About 1300 people with faimily name Klobučar live in Croatia today, in 590 households. There were 1600 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 20 percent. They are located in all Croatian counties, in 62 cities and 161 other places, mostly in Zagreb (255), Rijeka (75), Osijek (60), Donji Kosinj in Gospic area (50), and in Sisak (45).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over fifty times, the first time 1736 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
