Klaus families are Croats and they are mostly from Kutina. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Kutina.
Prevalence
About 80 people with faimily name Klaus live in Croatia today, in 30 households. There were 80 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number remains constant. They are located in 9 Croatian counties, in 9 cities and 13 other places, mostly in Zbjegovaca (<10), Kutina (<10), Sracinec in Varazdin area (<10), Dugo Selo (<10), and in Detkovac in Virovitica area (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1927 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
