Klarić families are Croats and they are mostly from Benkovac area. According to some sources they are from Novi Vinodolski area, or Jajce, Bosnia. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Split. In Bistrica in Bosanian Posavina every sixth inhabitant had the family name Klarić.
Prevalence
About 5400 people with faimily name Klarić live in Croatia today, in 2100 households. There were 4000 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 30 percent. They are located in all Croatian counties, in 107 cities and 425 other places, mostly in Zagreb (835), Split (295), Rijeka (145), Sesvete (140), and in Sibenik (130).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned about one hundred times, the first time 1729 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
