Kežić families are usually Croats and they are mostly from Vrgorac area , rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Metkovic and in Vrgorac area. In Mali Prolog in Vrgorac area every second inhabitant had the family name Kežić.
Prevalence
About 300 people with faimily name Kežić live in Croatia today, in 130 households. There were 230 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 30 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 21 cities and 19 other places, mostly in Metkovic (140), Stasevica (45), Ploce (40), Split (20), and in Zagreb (20).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1924 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
