Kevo families are Croats and they are mostly from east Herzegovina. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Split and in East Herzegovina (Stolac area). In places Dabrica and Šćepan Krst in East Herzegovina every fourth inhabitant had the family name Kevo.
Prevalence
About 180 people with faimily name Kevo live in Croatia today, in 80 households. There were 70 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number more than doubled. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 15 cities and 17 other places, mostly in Split (45), Kastel Stari (30), Zagreb (15), Metkovic (10), and in Kastel Stafilic (10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1929 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
