Kelin families are Croats and they are mostly from Ivanic-Grad area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Ivanic-Grad area and in Ludbreg area. In Gornja Obreška in Ivanic-Grad area every tenth inhabitant had the family name Kelin.
Prevalence
About 70 people with faimily name Kelin live in Croatia today, in 30 households. There were 150 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number halved. They are located in 7 Croatian counties, in 10 cities and 15 other places, mostly in Ludbreg (10), Zagreb (<10), Klostar Ivanic in Ivanic-Grad area (<10), Prerovec (<10), and in Drnek in Ivanic-Grad area (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1924 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
