Karlić families are Croats and they are mostly from middle Bosnia. According to some sources they are from Herzegovina. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and in Middle Bosnia (Kupres area). In Zvirnjača in Middle Bosnia every seventh inhabitant had the family name Karlić.
Prevalence
About 330 people with faimily name Karlić live in Croatia today, in 150 households. There were 320 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number remains constant. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 26 cities and 27 other places, mostly in Zagreb (55), Babina Greda in Zupanja area (35), Skabrnja in Biograd na moru area (20), Pleternica (15), and in Vodjinci in Vinkovci area (15).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over forty times, the first time 1750 in source 18th Century Census.
