Karadža families are almost entirely Croats and they are mostly from Omis area , rarely Bosniaks (from Rijeka ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Western Bosnia (Livno area) and in Middle Bosnia (Jajce area).
Prevalence
About 290 people with faimily name Karadža live in Croatia today, in 110 households. There were 150 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number doubled. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 23 cities and 21 other places, mostly in Zagreb (75), Rijeka (40), Split (35), Bjelovar (20), and in Otok in Vinkovci area (10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1928 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
