Karabegović families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Bosnian Posavina , often Bosniaks (also from Bosnian Posavina ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Bosanian Posavina (Bosanski Novi area) and in Bosnian Krajina (Teslic area). In Parnica in Middle Bosnia nearly every inhabitant had the family name Karabegović.
Prevalence
About 100 people with faimily name Karabegović live in Croatia today, in 50 households. There were 20 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number multiplied. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 10 cities and 14 other places, mostly in Zagreb (60), Rijeka (<10), Vir in Nin area (<10), Punat on the Island of Krk (<10), and in Funtana in Rovinj area (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 2007 in source Encyclopaedia of Croatian Surnames.
