Surname Kara in modern Croatia

In Croatia, Kara families are predominantly Croats (from Zagreb ), rarely Bosniaks (from Duga Resa area ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb.

Prevalence

Only a few people with faimily name Kara live in Croatia today, in three households only. There were 20 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number halved.
They are located in only threee Croatian places: in Zagreb (<5), and in Zivkovic Kosa (<5) and Bukovica Utinjska (<5) in Duga Resa area.

"Karah " is used by some 200 people in Libya , about 80 in the United States , and small number of people in Egypt. "Khara " is used by some 2000 people in Pakistan , about 800 in Ukraine , and some 500 people in the United States. "Karraa " is used by some 200 people in El Salvador and small number in the United States.
