Kapelac families are Croats and they are mostly from Garesnica area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Bjelovar and Cazma. In Grabik in Cazma every seventh inhabitant had the family name Kapelac.
Prevalence
About 50 people with faimily name Kapelac live in Croatia today, in 20 households. There were 80 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 30 percent. They are located in four Croatian counties, in 6 cities and 9 other places, mostly in Grabik (20), Velika Trnovitica in Garesnica area (15), Prnjarovac (10), Bjelovar (<10), and in Budimci in Nasice area (<10).
Outside Croatia
Family name Kapelac is present in five countries on two continents. The family name "Kapelac " is used by small number of people in the United States and small number in Czech Republic.
