Kalebić families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from the Island of Solta , rarely Italians (from Pula ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Split and on the Island of Solta. In Donje Selo on the Island of Solta every fourth inhabitant had the family name Kalebić.
Prevalence
About 290 people with faimily name Kalebić live in Croatia today, in 140 households. There were 260 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 10 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 16 cities and 21 other places, mostly in Split (80), Pula (40), Jesenice in Omis area (25), Donje Selo on the Island of Solta (25), and in Dugi Rat in Omis area (15).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over thirty times, the first time 1825 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
