Kaleb families are Croats and they are mostly from Opuzen area. According to some sources they are from Metkovic area or from the Island of Murter. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Metkovic and in Opuzen area.
Prevalence
About 330 people with faimily name Kaleb live in Croatia today, in 150 households. There were 210 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 60 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 23 cities and 22 other places, mostly in Metkovic (80), Zagreb (70), Zadar (35), Split (25), and in Vid (15).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 2007 in source Encyclopaedia of Croatian Surnames.
