Jurman families are usually Croats and they are mostly from Pazin area , rarely Italians. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Pula and Rijeka. In Nova Vas in Labin area every fourth inhabitant had the family name Jurman.
Prevalence
About 420 people with faimily name Jurman live in Croatia today, in 180 households. There were 530 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 20 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 24 cities and 50 other places, mostly in Sveti Petar u Sumi in Pazin area (70), Zagreb (35), Rijeka (35), Pazin (20), and in Rovinj (15).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
