Jurišević families are predominantly Croats and they are mostly from Umag. According to some sources they are from Slovenia, rarely Italians (also from Umag ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Umag and in Slovenia. In Materada in Umag every fourth inhabitant had the family name Jurišević.
Prevalence
About 160 people with faimily name Jurišević live in Croatia today, in 80 households. There were 110 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 40 percent. They are located in 6 Croatian counties, in 12 cities and 17 other places, mostly in Rijeka (20), Juricani (20), Umag (15), Babici (15), and in Porec (15).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1938 in source Phone Book - Zagreb 1938.
