Jugo families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Rijeka area , rarely Bosniaks. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Rijeka and Zagreb. In Postoljani in East Herzegovina every second inhabitant had the family name Jugo.
Prevalence
About 150 people with faimily name Jugo live in Croatia today, in 70 households. There were 260 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 40 percent. They are located in 9 Croatian counties, in 11 cities and 9 other places, mostly in Rijeka (55), Viskovo in Rijeka area (35), Zagreb (25), Kastav (15), and in Opatija (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
