Jokić families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Tuzla Region (Bosnia), also Serbs, very rarely Montenegrins (from Plav, Montenegro ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Tuzla Region, Bosnia (Tuzla area) and in Bosanian Posavina (Brcko area). In Brgule in Tuzla Region (Bosnia) every second inhabitant had the family name Jokić.
Prevalence
About 1200 people with faimily name Jokić live in Croatia today, in 530 households. There were 750 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 50 percent. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 61 cities and 109 other places, mostly in Zagreb (190), Rijeka (115), Zadar (80), Privlaka (35), and in Radovin in Nin area (35).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
