In Croatia, Jobst families are predominantly Croats (from the Island of Korcule ), rarely Hungarians (from Osijek area ), and very rarely Albanians (from Osijek ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Osijek and in Osijek area.
Prevalence
About 40 people with faimily name Jobst live in Croatia today, in 16 households. There were 30 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 40 percent. They are only located in four Croatian cities and four other places, mostly in Osijek (10), Darda in Osijek area (<10), Rijeka (<10), Vela Luka on the Island of Korcula (<10), and in Samobor (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
