Ježek families are Croats and they are mostly from Lepoglava. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Lepoglava. In Tuheljske Toplice in Klanjec area every tenth inhabitant had the family name Ježek.
Prevalence
About 170 people with faimily name Ježek live in Croatia today, in 70 households. There were 230 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 30 percent. They are located in 10 Croatian counties, in 15 cities and 19 other places, mostly in Zagreb (40), Lepoglava (40), Velika Erpenja in Zabok area (20), Bjelovar (10), and in Stara Kapela in Vrbovec area (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
